MAKING THE ELECTROMAGNETIC CONNECTION

Electromagnetic radiation created by cell phones, the WI-FI industry, and what are known as third and fourth generation communication devices are a huge problem worldwide.

For example, in the midst of our human species’ addiction to instant communication it has been found that 70 percent of the population is affected by cell phone signals on the brainwaves at a level of about 2 microwatts per square centimetre. This is only a fraction of the actual exposure experienced from the cell phone or at cell phone mast sites. As a species, we hear the research disclosures, but we are not inclined to listen until we are personally affected by subsequent health problems.

All animals and humans are capable of detecting electric fields: few are able to detect magnetic fields. When frequencies are higher, electric and magnetic fields are indistinguishable and referred to as electromagnetic frequencies. These electromagnetic fluxes are ubiquitous and increasing exponentially in our environment today. Our environment has reached a saturation point with these fields and frequencies that we cannot see or feel until ill health results.

This invisible inseparable electromagnetic radiation arises from waves and fields being emitted from radio, microwave and TV towers, radar, telecommunications, security systems, cell phones, cell sites, mobile phones, cordless phones, stove tops, and microwave ovens (the last being a tip of the iceberg problem compared with the others). They also emit from machinery, motors, transformers, and all our other modern appliances. The background radiation indoors and outdoors has been rising significantly by factors of thousands since the Second World War. So has the number of diseases.

For over fifty years researchers have warned us of the serious health hazards of long-term exposure to electromagnetic fields. These warnings have been largely ignored because the bio-mechanisms for particular maladies had not yet been determined. New research on cell and Field behaviour (Lipton, Pert, Sheldrake, McTaggart, and others), and development of more sensitive ways of measuring what we cannot see, are combining to provide an ill-health scenario of the scale not yet imaginable and only just being widely experienced.

Sensitivity to electromagnetics is a relatively new phenomenon in health care, up to now unnamed, and dismissed with “it’s all in your head” thinking. The phenomenon does not even have a consensus for its naming. It is variously called Electro Hypersensitivity (EHS), Electromagnetic Sensitivity, Electro Sensitivity - even falling under umbrella terms such as Membrane Sensitivity Syndrome or Intercellular Communication Disruption.

EHS is a syndrome where people experience some or all of a wide range of symptoms when in proximity of equipment or wiring or non-wiring prevalent in our electro-technical society. These symptoms can occur from indoor (home or workplace) and outdoor exposure to a wide variety (spectrum) of frequencies. These symptoms are often attributed to other dis-eases than EHS.
According to research, there exists a causal relationship between electric and magnetic field exposure and changes in organisms at the cellular level, although results are often tempered with statements about “linkage” rather than “caused by”.

Normal enzyme activity in the body is interrupted by most synthetic or man-made electromagnetic frequencies. The range of frequencies implicated is wide ranging from ELF (extremely low) to EHF (extremely high). Tryptophan production, necessary in the production of serotonin and melatonin, is one of the activities that is disrupted. Melatonin synthesis by the pineal gland may be depressed interfering with normal immune functioning. Electromagnetic frequency exposure has been implicated in many diseases including certain cancers, depression and miscarriages as well as in membrane sensitivity disorders such as Fibromyalgia, Autism, Alzheimer’s, Addiction, MS and many others.

It has been said that we are too soon old, too late smart. It is a concern that a blinkered view is hampering the efforts of those who see the immense threat coming straight down the tracks toward us.

Are scientists are too interested in minutia? No aha moments wait in that soup.

There is a large amount of information available on frequencies of various pieces of visible and invisible universe. There is an understanding of where they are “placed” in the overall energy spectrum but little understanding of the relationship of frequencies and “life”. Research to determine which frequencies of the spectrum are particularly harmful in EHS, and why, is hard to find.

Is this because we are still immersed in a mechanical body medicine? Is this because we still immersed in Newtonian physics? Is it because we are so clearly discouraged from believing in the invisible? Is it because we are already “damaged” (perhaps ravaged) by EHS that our “senses” are numbed? Are we that far out of touch with ourselves or our Selves?

During the course of our research we discovered that EHS people are not all “sensitive” to the same frequencies. Because research tends to lump all electromagnetic field and frequency research into one area of concern, the intricacies of the invisible are being lost. Some people are sensitive to magnetic fields; some are sensitive to Radio/Microwave frequencies; some are sensitive to X-ray; some are sensitive to “dirty electricity”; and many are sensitive to natural electromagnetic frequencies of the earth and cosmos.
Lumping all the types of EMR together and trying to assign a level isn’t going to work.
